Once upon a time I wrote a fairly regular newsletter, the New Moon News, and then I just lost some steam. It was usually a bit about the time of year, any holidays coming up, local rituals and classes (at the very bottom so as not to bore my out of town, out of state, out of this world subscribers!), and yes, some special deals for my subscribers!
So now, I will try to be more faithful to the effort, and I call this newsletter the Full Moon Muse. I hope you enjoy it, and read all the way to the end, because you will never know where the special offers will be! You can sign up for it on the bottom of the Natural Magick Shop website.
This is the first Full moon of the January, and the first of the new Epoch, so lets make the most of it, right? The Celtic Year calls this the Birch Moon, and it is used for spiritual cleansing, and the purging of anything negative. However, we could also take advantage of the powers of Jupiter (being Thursday tonight) and do a lot of prosperity magick tonight. I'm no astrologer, but if you look up to the Moon, you can easily see Jupiter giving it a kiss! So any kind of magick involving money, wealth, and expansion may be magnified tonight, and throughout this Full Moon. Likewise, Friday night for Venus magick, and then the peak of the Full Moon is Saturday evening, so operations involving destiny, karma, institutions, and fate would be favored.
By the way, my Llewellyn's Moon Sign Book is my constant companion to guide all of my Natural Magick Shop potion making schedules. But I have added a new tool, an app for my new Iphone, the Rivolu moon app. It seems to work very well, and I think it only cost a dollar.
Brigid, or Imbolc, observed around the 2nd of February, is the Sabbat that will enjoy the still-bright waning moon. Many of us honor Brigid, the Celtic goddess of healing, crafts, and childbirth, on this holiday. Imbolc is also often observed as a candle ceremony, and my first coven would make our candles for the rest of the year on this Sabbat. Since it is the first Sabbat of the Julian calandar year, it is also often used for initiations, cleansings, and blessings. (Here is where you would have gotten the special offer if you signed up for the newsletter!)
What will be new for Natural Magick Shop in 2013? So many of you have asked for candles. You know, I used to have soy wax ritual candles made for me, using the same essential oil blends that are in my magick oils. It was the first (and only) thing I have outsourced, because I simply didn't (and still don't!) have the space for candle crafting. Now I am perplexed, because soy wax USED to be the eco-wax, but now my understanding is that all soy used for making wax is now GMO. Sigh. I'm thinkin' about it.
What I will have completed by the end of this year (a resolution-sounding statement of the sort I seldom make!) is a Tarot oils line. I already have The Fool (of course the first to add to the line), Magician, and Devil. Some of these might be the same formula as my other oils, for example, the recipe I have for Lion could easily represent the Strength card, and Star Goddess is certainly the same lady represented in the Star card, right? I will be working with some of my local Tarot divas as consultants for the Natural Magick Tarot line, which will be sold in the round 1/2 oz. bottles and in a set of 1/8th oz bottles for the whole collection. This is an ambitious project!
